Fusible link wire is designed to "open" a circuit when electrical current overload occurs
This "opening" of the circuit stops the current and prevents damage to electrical instruments or to accessories, and is most often used when the placement of a fuse is not possible
A fusible link is not intended to be used in place of a fuse, only where a fuse cannot be used
Meets or exceeds S.A.E. specification J-156
Generally use fusible link wire four 'gauges' smaller than the rest of the circuit
